You’ve Heard A Lot About “CoolSculpting”, But You Have Questions about it. Natura Dermatology Has The Answers.
You’ve probably seen our billboard touting our “Let’s Get Naked” campaign for CoolSculpting. Or perhaps you heard our radio spots on Y100 a couple months ago. And by this time you are wondering, “What exactly is this CoolSculpting fat removal thing all about?” Here we break down CoolSculpting in an easy, facts at a glance, quick read.
What Exactly Is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting in our opinion is a pretty revolutionary fat reduction procedure requiring no cutting into the skin or fat sucking like traditional liposuction. CoolSculpting is a totally non-invasive procedure to selectively reduce fat layers in problem areas using a patented cooling technology. It is a safe procedure cleared by the FDA (and CE Marked in Europe) that gently cools fat cells in the body. The “frozen” fat cells are naturally eliminated through your body’s own cleansing system. The best part is that CoolSculpting reduces bulges in treated areas of the body without harming surrounding tissue, which means there’s no “downtime”, “recovery time” or girdle wearing like with liposuction. We have both men and women that have the procedure done. For men, typically the problem areas treated are the love handles and for women, it’s the “muffin top”.
What Are The Benefits of CoolSculpting?
1) It involves no needles, surgery, or downtime. Since CoolSculpting is non-invasive, patients can resume daily activities including work and exercise, immediately following treatment.
2) It’s convenient. Patients can generally sit or lie comfortably and read, work on their laptop or even nap during the procedure. The procedure is performed in a medical office, under the supervision of the physician. At Natura Dermatology & Cosmetics, we are one of only a few Certified CoolSculpting practices in Fort Lauderdale.
3) It’s fast. Procedures last about one to two hours, so treatment can be performed during a lunch hour or without distrupting your day’s schedule.
4) The results are dramatic. On average, each CoolSculpting Procedure results in a 20% reduction of fat in the treated areas. Patients can start to see results as soon as three weeks following treatment. However, most dramatic results occur over a period of two to four months in most patients.
How Does CoolSculpting Work?
During the CoolSculpting Procedure, a non-invasive applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling to the treated area which specifically targets underlying fat, leaving surface skin tissue unaffected. When fat cells are exposed to extreme cold, a process of natural removal is triggered, which gradually reduces the thickness of the fat layer. The result is a visible reduction in fat bulges.
Is CoolSculpting Right For Me?
CoolSculpting is not intended as a weight-reduction program for overweight individuals. The best candidates for the procedure are people near their ideal body weight who eat well and exercise regularly and have pockets of fat that have not responded to a healthy lifestyle. CoolSculpting works best when a patient is looking to reduce fat in stubborn exercise resistant areas, like the belly, love handles, and back.
What’s The Science Behind CoolSculpting?
The CoolSculpting procedure developed by ZELTIQ is based on sound science called Cryolipolysis. Cryolipolysis is the result of a groundbreaking discovery by Drs. Dieter Manstein and R. Rox Anderson at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical Sch0ol. ZELTIQ is the exclusive licensee of this patented technology and therefore the only company to provide Cryolipolysis.
